The Accelerator for Shifting Gender Norms through Education brings together organizations with a proven track record for developing effective programming to prevent harmful gender stereotypes.

​Our partners include organizations working in historically low- and middle-income communities in Asia, Latin America and Africa, as well as those with thematic expertise in relevant areas, such as gender-based violence in schools, comprehensive sexuality education, girls’ agency, working with men and boys, government engagement, and content and media creation.
We Are Colloborating To:
Establish a Learning-by-Doing Hub: Assemble select implementing organizations focused on shifting harmful gender stereotypes, norms, attitudes and beliefs in public schools.

Deepen Programming and Generate Public Goods: Foster a community of practice to enhance programming. Create public goods such as curricula, content, teacher training materials and advocacy briefs to shape the narrative on effective gender norm-shifting strategies for advancing gender equality through the education sector.

Design and Test Key Metrics for Measuring Shifting Gender Norms Programming: Develop a common results framework and assessment tools for the sector to further evidence generation.

Build a Movement: Establish a go-to resource and community for nonprofit organizations, funders, and governments interested in adolescent gender norm shifting programming within the education sector.

Key Stakeholder Community Update 2025
The Accelerator exists to fill a critical gap: to strengthen and advance the emerging field of shifting adolescent gender norms in and through education with increased actors, evidence and resources. With a significant financial commitment, it brings together 12 nonprofit organizations working across Africa, Asia and Latin America who are leaders in designing and implementing effective programming, research, and advocacy in education systems on adolescent gender norms.
